Defining moment of Chicago Bears win over Lions

Everyone will point to the Eddie Jackson and his pick six as the game changing moment. A defensive stand in the first half may have been even more important

The Chicago Bears offense was struggling to find points in this game. That is why it was frustrating to see Chase Daniel fail to connect with Tarik Cohen late into the first half, causing the Bears to settle for three.

With four minutes left the Bears kicked off to the Lions down 7-3. Their next defensive series was where the game swung. The Chicago Bears forced a three and out, set the offense up with good field position and scored from there.

On first down, the Lions tried to run an end around to Bruce Ellington. The Bears were there as Prince Amukamara set the edge and made the tackle. Eddie Jackson and Khalil Mack were right in the area as well.

The next play was a check down to Andy Jones, who was defended by Roquan Smith. Smith broke quick and made a nice play on the ball. Lastly, we saw Smith blitz, beat the left guard and pull Matt Stafford down inside the Lions 20 yard line.

The Bears kicked off with 3:58 to go in the half and the Bears got the ball back before the two minute warning. The Bears wound up going on a five play, 65-yard scoring drive to go up 9-7 before the half.

This is what a great defense does. The offense was starting to get momentum and put together a scoring drive. They did not just get them the ball back, they got a three and out to give them the two minute warning and field position to put together a successful drive.
