Mitch Trubisky may play on Sunday, but that does not mean that he needs to. Here are five reasons the Chicago Bears could win on Sunday without their star signal caller
If you have read this blog, you know that this is a site that believes in what Mitch Trubisky is doing. There was a definite drop off in overall talent from Trubisky to Chase Daniel on Thursday against the Detroit Lions. However, the Bears still won.
That is because this is a talented Bears roster. While they may not be able to win a Super Bowl with Chase Daniel, they can hang around in games with lower caliber teams. With that said, the Giants are a lesser caliber team.
However, they do have some high caliber players, and some people do think this team will need Mitch Trubisky to win. With that said, here are five reasons why the Chicago Bears will beat the New York Giants no matter who is behind center.
Turnovers
The drop off from Chase Daniel to Mitch Trubisky can be seen physically. Trubisky is quicker, he has a much bigger arm and is overall more accurate than Daniel. There is no disputing that. However, one area where Daniel should excel over Trubisky is turnovers.
For as much as you love Trubisky, every once in a while he makes that throw that makes you want to pull your hair out. Chase Daniel knows he is less talented than Trubisky. He knows he cannot throw across his body into traffic and have a prayer of completing the pass. Chase Daniel is not going to throw the passes that Trubisky does.
Daniel was brought in because he knows the system. He can make the smart play. He does not turn the football over. While it is a small sample size, he has one interception on 115 pass attempts. That is a 0.9% interception rate. For his career, Trubisky has a 2.5% interception rate and a 2.8% rate this season. Only four of his first ten games this season went without an interception.
Daniel threw two touchdowns and zero interceptions on Sunday. It was not pretty, but the most significant stat was zero interceptions, and therefore zero turnovers.
The New York Giants just so happen to be a team that does not turn the ball over. They rank 20th in takeaways and 21st in interceptions. Daniel knows to protect the ball and has the chance to do so on Sunday. This will put his team in a great spot to win.
