Easier Run Defense

In Chase Daniel’s first start with the Chicago Bears, they were in a tight spot by struggling to run the football. However, they played the Detroit Lions, who added Damon Harrison at the trade deadline and transformed into a strong run defense since then.

The Lions added Harrison straight from the Giants. The Giants traded Harrison because they had faith in their run defenders in Hill and Dalvin Tomlinson. However, they still rank 17th in rush defense and do not have the best run defender in the NFL with Harrison.

It is worth questioning what their run defense is after facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles in back to back weeks. The Chicago Bears do not have a potent rushing attack right now, but they are still much tougher than the last two teams that the Giants have faced.

Matt Nagy has stressed this week that he wants to get back to running the football. The situation they were in may have added to shying away from the run, and seeing this Giants run defense could open that up.

Chase Daniel did not have a running game in his first start. In a much easier situation, they could get the running game going and help bring out a more consistent Daniel.
