The Chicago Bears have the best run defense in the NFL. On Sunday they will take on the best rushing attack in the NFL
The Chicago Bears defense has been touted as the best in the NFL and with that comes the best run defense in the NFL. Of course, for being the best run defense in the NFL we did not necessarily see that on Sunday when Saquon Barkley put up 125 yards on 24 carries on Sunday.
Of course, it is fair to say that Barkley is a rare talent and deserves some credit for running so hard against a strong front. However, that cannot be an excuse again this week as Todd Gurley and his potent rushing attack come into town.
Heading into the Giants game, the Chicago Bears have not necessarily been tested on the ground. The Bears started their season with the Packers and Seahawks, who are running the ball much better now than in the first two weeks. The same can be said for Arizona, who fired their offensive coordinator since. The Bucs, Jets, and Vikings have little to no run game to speak of.

The Miami Dolphins have a poor run game, but it did not stop Frank Gore from having his only 100 yard game of the season against Chicago. Barkley and Gore have  been their toughest opponents this year and both went over 100.
So far this season the Rams have ran the ball more effectively and efficiently than the Giants. That is no surprise when looking at their offensive lines, coaches and records.
What is interesting to note is that the Chicago Bears rank 16th in stuffed rate, which is runs that end behind the line of scrimmage. They rank top eight in power runs, second level runs and open field runs but do not finish with many stuffs behind the line.
Of course, the reason the Rams are the most efficient running attack is because they rank first in stuffed rank, having the least number of runs go for a loss.
The Chicago Bears have not seen a rushing attack quite like the Rams. They have struggled at getting stuffs in the backfield while the Rams have excelled in this area. This will be a statement game and a true litmus test for this defense moving forward.
