Happy New Year! Here’s some New Year’s Resolutions for the Chicago Bears.
The Chicago Bears’ wrapped up their regular season with an impressive win over the Minnesota Vikings to put their final record at 12-4.
Not even the most optimistic of Bears fans could have seen this coming. The Bears exceeded expectations from every fan, pundit, analyst and writer. But as great as the Bears team and individual performances were in 2018, there’s always room for improvement in 2019.
So as the Bears prepare for the playoffs (and before we shift the website’s focus to playoff preview the rest of the week, here are some New Year’s Resolutions for the Bears for the 2019 calendar year.
- That Mitch Trubisky’s 2019 year includes 4000 yards passing and 30 TDs.
- That Trubisky’s 2019 year also includes less than 10 interceptions.
- That Jordan Howard finishes his next season back over 1000 yards rushing and back over 4.0 yards per carry.
- That Tarik Cohen goes over 1500 rushing/receiving yards.
- That Allen Robinson stays healthy for 16 games and cracks 1000 receiving yards.
- That Trey Burton tops 10 TDs.
- That Anthony Miller reaches 750 yards.
- That Adam Shaheen stays healthy next year and becomes a key cog in the offense.
- That Kyle Long restructures his contract and remains a Bear.
- That Cody Whitehair makes the Pro Bowl.
- That James Daniels becomes an elite bulldozer.
- That Charles Leno continues his solid progression.
- That Roquan Smith jumps to 150 tackles.
- That Adrian Amos finally gets some turnovers.
- That Danny Trevathan… repeats his 2018.
- That Akiem Hicks finally gets to a double-digit sack total.
- That Khalil Mack reaches 16 sacks in 16 games.
- That Eddie Jackson wins defensive player of the year.
- That Leonard Floyd finally puts the doubters to rest.
- That Bryce Callahan plays 16 games.
- That Bilal Nichols makes the jump we all know he can make.
- That Aaron Lynch… is still a Chicago Bear.
- That Kylie Fitts records a tackle.
- That Cody Parkey is the kicker the Bears want him to be.
And finally, here are some resolutions just for the month of January (and February), if you know what I mean.
- That the Bears don’t lose a January home game.
- That the Bears don’t lose a January road game.
- That the Bears play a football game in February.
- That the Bears win a football game in February.
Bears’ fans, it’s been a remarkable season, but it’s not over yet. Here’s to a January that’s just as successful as their regular season was. Take tonight and enjoy the new year because after Bears’ fans ring in the new year, it’s time to get down to business.
That’s a nice change of pace. Recent Januarys have been focused on coaching changes and looking ahead, but now, it’s time to focus on the playoffs.
