Mitch Trubisky has been named to the 2019 Pro Bowl.
Mitch Trubisky was part of the national debate frequently this season.
Many analysts saw a player with special talent that was going to be a very good quarterback for many years in this league.
Other analysts saw a future bust that was headed to NFL purgatory.
If today’s news is any indication, the group in the former category are in much better shape than the latter.

Mitch Trubisky has been named the replacement for Jared Goff now that Goff’s Los Angeles Rams squad has reached the Super Bowl.
The Bears haven’t had a Pro Bowl quarterback since their incredible season in 1985 when Jim McMahon was named to the squad.
Trubisky remains the only Chicago Bear to make it in his lifetime and beyond. There will be plenty of debate now about who should have made the Pro Bowl instead of Trubisky and you’ll even hear some comments about the Pro Bowl being a joke because Trubisky made it, but that’s no different from the type of criticism the Bears and Trubisky have heard all season long.
In 14 games this year, Trubisky threw for over 3200 yards with 24 TDs and 12 INTs. He had a 95.4 passer rating and he also tallied 420 yards on the ground with three rushing touchdowns. He also finished third in the NFL in QBR behind Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees. That’s some pretty good company.

Trubisky had the highest passer rating of any Bears QB that threw for over 2000 yards since Sid Luckman in 1943. His 3223 yards is the sixth most in Bears history. His 24 TDs are 5th most in Bears history.
No Bears’ QB has ever thrown for 4000 yards or 30 TDs, you have to think if Trubisky doesn’t get there next year, he will soon.
Trubisky’s addition to the Pro Bowl is going to be debated, but the bottom line is, statistically, he had a solid season and years from now, the debate will fade and when someone looks at Trubisky’s bio, it’ll say “2019 Pro Bowl selection” and nobody, no matter how critical, can take that away from him.
The Chicago Bears have a Pro Bowl quarterback. That’s a fact.
