3. Tyrann Mathieu

Mathieu enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. Last year Mathieu signed a $7 million deal which is less than what Amos is projected to see on the open market. Mathieu is still 27 and came off of a good year. However, he may not see much more than he got this season.

He also may not want much more either. In the same vein as Weddle, he chose his last destination based on where he thought he could win. He certainly could go back to Houston, but an opening in Chicago could entice him as well.

The difference between Mathieu and Amos is similar to the difference between Collins and Amos. Playmaking, especially near the line of scrimmage. Collins and Mathieu were much more disruptive in the box, even with Mathieu being more undersized than Amos.

Mathieu is older than Amos, he has had multiple knee surgeries and has more missed tackles, and touchdowns allowed in coverage than Amos. With all things considered the Bears would rather have Amos.

However, Mathieu at $8 or $9 million compared to Amos at 10 or 11 is interesting.
