Eddie Goldman, NT, Florida State, Round 2, 39th overall

Grade: A-

Goldman has steadily improved each season he’s been with the team. Goldman had a solid rookie campaign but needed to work on conditioning. Goldman had a hard time staying on the field for enough plays as a rookie and was set after a strong offseason conditioning program to make more of an impact as a second year player.

Unfortunately, Goldman’s second year was derailed by a high ankle sprain and his impact was minimized after the injury, but prior to that, he was off to a fantastic start.

Goldman’s third year saw him really develop into a top-notch player. It was clear to opposing coaches that Goldman was a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the defense and offenses started strategizing on how to slow him down. By the end of his third year, it was clear to the Bears that he was a part of their future and they inked him to a lucrative contract extension.

This season, Goldman proved the Bears decision to be a wise one. While he may not have had the flashy stats, he continued to prove to be a load in the middle of the Bears’ elite defense and continually forced double teams giving Akiem Hicks more opportunities to make plays.
