2. Disguises coverages matters
The Chicago Bears defense was great, but there indeed is a chance that they could get better from Vic Fangio to Chuck Pagano. That is no knock on Fangio, who should be a great head coach.
However, he did not blitz often. On top of that, he played a similar style of defense every week and throughout his career.
While the Bears had success against the Rams, the Patriots took that gameplan and expanded on it. They mixed coverages and blitzes. It was reported that the defense would call two plays and change their defense in the last 15 seconds to confuse the quarterback.
One thing Chuck Pagano is known for is blitzing and showing disguises. This may be the added twist that the Chicago Bears need for what is a more talented defense than New England.
