8. Sign Robbie Gould

Ryan Pace is going to have to seriously invest in a kicker. What I mean by that is the fact that he’s already eating $4.5 million on the Parkey contract, so the prudent decision would be to go for a rookie kicker to fill the void, but being a Super Bowl contender, you can’t leave the kicking position to the unknown.

Pace will have to commit at least $3 to $4 million to a new kicker which means spending around $8 million on the kicking position in 2019. Ouch. That financial hit would certainly be softened by the acquisition of Robbie Gould.

Gould has made it crystal clear that he wants to come back to Chicago. He hasn’t blatantly asked the Bears to sign him publicly, but he’s come pretty close. The 49ers could use the franchise tag on him, and if they do, Gould won’t be an option, but if they choose not to do that, there is way too much smoke to ignore.

Gould has no ill will towards this front office even though Pace made the decision to let him go. Gould was coming off a career worst season and the Bears decided that money would be better spent on the offensive line with the signing of Josh Sitton.

Gould has been lights out since he left Chicago and definitely seems like he would like to come back, he knows how to navigate the winds of Soldier Field and that can’t be ignored. Gould makes too much sense.
