3. The Chicago Bears have 5 Primetime games (for now)

The NFL loves it when the Bears are relevant. There aren’t many teams that carry bigger ratings boost than a good Chicago Bears team, so it’s no surprise the NFL wants to put them in primetime is much as possible.

The Bears have five primetime games, that does not include the nationally televised game against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. No NFL team is allowed to have more than six primetime games in a season so the Bears are one shy of their maximum allowance.

If the Bears are as good as the NFL expects, the team could still be flexed into another game between weeks 5 and 15 (technically goes to 16, but Bears are already on Sunday Night Football in week 16).

For Bears fans that like their games at Noon Chicago time, this is not the year for you. The Bears only have 7 Noon kicks and that number could drop to six or less. The NFL can also flex games from Noon kicks to 3:25 kicks as well if they want to push the Bears into a nationally televised game.
