6. Sam Mustipher, C, Notre Dame

Was it any surprise to see Notre Dame offensive lineman flee to Chicago after being undrafted? The Chicago Bears caught a nice find in Sam Mustipher, a long-time starting center for the Fighting Irish.

Mustipher was a team-captain for Notre Dame and was a Rimington Award finalist, for the top offensive center in the nation. Still, for some reason he saw himself as a combine snub who went undrafted.

It may be for the better for him, as he teams back up with old college coach Harry Hiestand. It is clear the two have a mutual respect and there will be a hit the ground running attitude when Mustipher hits the filed.

The Chicago Bears lost Eric Kush, who had versatility to slide into center if needed. They signed Ted Larsen, who can fill the void but has no upside. Mustipher can compete with Ted Larsen, and has the connection with the coach to get a little edge in his favor.

Mustipher making the roster is not as out of the blue as it could sound.
