4. Alex Bars, OG, Notre Dame

One more offensive lineman to really drive home the fact that the Bears did add on the offensive line, even though they did not draft offensive line. Hiestand thinks he can get the most out of this talent, and knows he can get the most out of Mustipher, and Bars, as the two played for him at Notre Dame.

Bars is a player we tied to the Bears early into the process. He screamed a fit because he was excellent in 2017. However, when Mike McGlinchey, Quinton Nelson and Hiestand left he suffered an injury and became completely forgotten about.

His medicals may have helped him go undrafted, but his connection to Hiestand got him to Chicago. Bars has serious upside, and was considered a draft prospect when healthy. There is no reason to push it with Bars, who will redshirt next year, but has officially become a longterm candidate to replace Kyle Long.

Keep your eye on Tucker, Bars, and Mustipher this summer as the Bears look for depth on the inside.
