2. Dax Raymond, TE, Utah State
Dax Raymond is an intriguing player. In his usage at Utah State, you could see similarities in his playing style to Trey Burton. Raymond was a fluid mover who was able to be used on screens, and motion. He is not the best blocking option, and likely fell out of the draft because he is not a strong blocker, and not an elite athlete either.
However, his abilty to be versatile as a move player definitely has perked the interest of Nagy.
While he has the fluid nature to be a backup, or injury insurance player for Trey Burton, he also has the upside to go over the middle of the field and compliment Burton. Check out his above average 40-yard dash time.
Raymond is not afraid to catch balls over the middle of the field. Matt Nagy has always talked about a three tight end offense. Adam Shaheen is coming along but Dion Sims was let go. Shaheen is a quality blocker, and with Raymond splitting the seams they could have a role for all three.
Raymond is going to need refinement but was a surprise UDFA. He likely chose to go to Chicago because he knows he has a chance to make the roster.
