4. Adam Shaheen

The Chicago Bears brought up the idea of drafting a tight end early, and showed interest in Josh Oliver and Jace Sternberger. However, with the time to make the move, they elected for Riley Ridley from Georgia instead.

Going wide receiver over tight end may have been a testament to best player available more than faith in Adam Shaheen. Still, the fact remains that the Bears do not have much competition for Shaheen on the roster.

Trey Burton is a tight end, but is more of a versatile chess piece, and is not much of a blocker. Shaheen is a high upside  blocker and seam stretcher. However, his first two years have been rocky. He is going to get another chance next season, and the Bears do not really have any other choice.

Even if the Bears drafted a tight end Shaheen would have been in the mix. However, the lack of drafting one shows the superior confidence that they have in Shaheen and that has to give him a good feeling heading into the offseason.
