5 losers on Chicago Bears from draft weekend
4. Javon Wims
One area many did not see the team going in this draft was pass catcher. And, if they did roll with a pass catcher of some sort, he likely was going to be a tight end. Wrong. The Chicago Bears keep the best player available strategy in mind with their selection of Riley Ridley in round four.
Ridley did not outproduce Wims when the two shared a football field together. However, Wims was drafted in round seven while Ridley in round four. Draft status should not determine anything with a room so crowded.
However, Ridley comes in with the edge in the coaches mind. On top of Ridley, Emanuel Hall was the top UDFA signing and a slam dunk at that. You can argue that Ridley would play the X-WR role, while Wims is more of a “Z”. Still, Emanuel Hall is a “Z” which means that whether we look at wide receiver as a whole, or in specific positions, the seat is hot for Javon Wims.
After not taking advantage in his rookie season, Javon Wims needs to take a huge step forward to make this roster.
