For the Chicago Bears and their fans, the 2018 season brought many surprises. The arrival of head coach Matt Nagy helped take Chicago’s offense to another level. However, the biggest shocker was the blockbuster trade for outside linebacker Khalil Mack. As a result, the Bears had a high-octane offense and one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The team’s overall success was highlighted by several players achieving individual accolades. Mack was the first Bears player to record double-digit sacks (12.5) since 2014, and was named an All-Pro for the third time in his career. Along with Mack, Kyle Fuller and Eddie Jackson earned All-Pro honors and Pro Bowl nods as well.

On the other side of the ball, there was the obvious emergence of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who threw for 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns, and had a QB rating of 95.4. In addition, fellow backfield mate Tarik Cohen had a breakout year of his own. In his second year in the NFL, Cohen had a total of 1,169 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns.

Entering the second year of the Nagy era, both Trubisky and Cohen are top candidates to have a breakout year in 2019. With a firmer grasp of the offensive playbook, and a number of weapons in his arsenal, Trubisky can potentially shatter numerous single-season franchise records. As for Cohen, the departure of Jordan Howard puts the spotlight on the third-year veteran a bit more.

Looking over the entire roster, Trubisky and Cohen aren’t the only players who are in line for a breakout year. A legitimate argument can be made for numerous player to have a huge 2019 season, but here are the top nominees to make the most noise for the Bears this fall.
