Although we don’t know who will be named the Bears’ kicker for Week 1 of the regular season, we do know that this person will have to be much better than Cody Parkey. Chicago has had numerous kickers coming to Halas Hall for tryouts, and after the conclusion of their minicamp last week, they narrowed it down to two kickers: Elliot Fry and Eddy Pineiro. Both Fry and Pineiro have zero experience when kicking in an NFL regular-season game. From the look of it, it appears that Fry and Pineiro will be battling for the kicking position in this summer’s training camp.

Even with it narrowed down to two candidates, there is still a chance that the Bears may decide to not go with neither one of them, and put their trust in a veteran kicker that will be floating in free agency right before the start of the regular season.

Well, whoever their kicker ends up to be, their play will be an important factor in Chicago’s success. Furthermore, their range of consistency could be the difference in whether the Bears improve from last year, or take a step back.
