Ranking Chicago Bears 2019 Roster: 75-71
71. Joe Lowery, OT
Joe Lowery is going to be a player to keep an eye on. He is one of five big names the Bears added on the offensive line as a UDFA in 2019. The team clearly wanted to hit the area, and while they could not do it during the draft, they did so with UDFAs. First, we covered Black Blackmar, and now we see Joe Lowery.
Lowery is a rookie from Ohio who fell in the draft because he does not overwhelming strength or length. However, for his size, he is a great mover. This. helps Lowery in two areas.
As a tackle, he can kick back strong in pass protection. He can also pull in space as a run blocker. If the Bears wanted to try Joe Lowery at guard, his ability to pull and make contact out in space could become very valuable.
The fact that he has enough ability to potentially step in at tackle or guard pushes Lowery up to 71. However, a year on the practice squad to hone his craft feels like an optimistic outcome.
