Where does the stock of Haha Clinton-Dix stand heading into the 2019 season?

It is okay, Chicago Bears fans. We can admit it. Haha Clinton-Dix was not great in 2018. There seems to be a long debate about this, and while you can make the case for Clinton-Dix to be better in 2019, his 2018 was a rocky one.

To start, he entered camp in Green Bay, and the vibe was that he was not going to get a contract renewal. From there came his worst season the field to date before being shipped off to Washington. Washington was watching their entire locker room fall apart, so throwing in a new starting safety on the fly did not gel.

This is why it is okay to admit that his 2018 season was not good. It led to the Packers only getting a mid-round pick, and it led to Chicago getting him on the cheap.

The question from here is where does his stock go? The fact of the matter is that it has to be on the rise.

Yes, he did not gel in Washington. However, he now gets a whole offseason in Chicago-who last checked-were a better defense overall than Washington. Clinton-Dix gets time to be acclimated, he has better players around him, and one of those is a friend in Eddie Jackson.

Clinton-Dix recruited Jackson to Alabama while Jackson recruited Clinton-Dix to Chicago. Now, the team cam roam a secondary together.

The fact of the matter is that Clinton-Dix signed a one-year deal with great defense in a role he knew he could play well in to boost his stock. If the Bears defense continues this momentum he is in for a much bigger payday, even if he did not play well, and even if that does not mean a longterm deal in Chicago.

Clinton-Dix put himself in a better spot this year than last year entering a free agency year, and for that, his stock is up.
