Where is the stock on Chicago Bears nose tackle Abdullah Anderson heading into training camp?
Not may people are talking about Abdullah Anderson heading into the Chicago Bears training camp. However, that is why Bear Goggles On is here. We have every player covered for you.
Anderson was a 2018 UDFA from Bucknell. He picked up football late, but has elite athleticism for his size, and has consistently gotten better at the game. This caused him to get noticed as a UDFA and stick around for a full season of practice squad work.
Now, Anderson enters year two ready to take a step forward and compete for an NFL roster spot. What makes him worth following is that he has a real shot.
When looking at the Bears defensive line, no one is arguing his ability compared to Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, and Bilal Nichols. No one is even putting him on the tier of Jon Bullard, and Roy Robertson-Harris. At least not yet for Bullard.
However, the Bears need a backup nose tackle. Robertson-Harris will can slide outside before sliding inside. The team brought in Nick Williams last year who made the roster.
Still, Williams is a journeyman veteran with little upside. Williams is who is he is. Anderson is a young project with upside.
If he can make the roster in year two, it would show continual growth and would be an excellent UDFA signing. The path to him making the roster is clear, and Williams is the only player truly standing in his way.
Do not sleep on Abdullah Anderson and his chances of making the 53-man roster.
