The San Fransisco 49ers and Robbie Gould are agreeing on an extension that will end any chance he winds up playing for the Chicago Bears

We have written about it, everyone is talking about it. The second that Cody Parkey missed his field goal against the Philadelphia Eagles, a lot of fans immediately thought about the name Robbie Gould.

The number of kickers the team has had since he left combined with his success elsewhere has driven some fans insane.  Gould has added fuel to the fire.

After requesting a trade and hinting at wanting to go back to Chicago, Gould had made it clear he wanted to go home. However, you do not always get what you want, although I am guessing Gould is okay in signing an extension.

Yes, the 49ers can still trade Gould. However, it seems as though this saga has slowly rolled to an end. The 49ers need a kicker, and do not want to trade Gould, while Gould did say that long-term money is the most important feature.

On top of that, it can be argued whether the team really had an interest or not. Ryan Pace let Gould go and would take some owning up for him to bring him back. On top of that, Gould is getting real money, which would be tough to fit under the cap.

The Bears have a young core, and . were looking to keep. it young and cheap with their kicking option. Now, the public criticsm that is attached to letting Gould walk can quiet down for the next few weeks. Hopefully the team does not have a kicking disaster in camp.
