Chicago Bears top players entering 2019: No. 6
Who are the top six players on the Chicago Bears roster entering 2019?
After a long but fun exercise of going through the top players on the Chicago Bears roster, we have gone all the way from 90 into the top ten. We have previewed position battles and roster implications that changed this offseason and ranked each player based on their 2019 value.
This list is including a combination of their physical talent, value-added to the team due to position, and their potential to make an impact next season. The list will focus solely on 2019.
After kicking off the top ten with Charles Leno, Allen Robinson, Danny Trevathan, and Cody Whitehair, we have navigated to number six on the list. Linebacker Roquan Smith.
No. 6 Roquan Smith
Last year they were closely ranked, and this year Smith takes the torch from Danny Trevathan. Keep in mind Smith did not take any preseason snaps and held out most of the training camp of his rookie season.
Without a head start, and with a limited week one role Smith still played up as one of the ten best players on the roster.
Now, Smith gets an offseason with Trevathan. He gets all of training camp and the preseason and a full year of experience knowing how the NFL works. A jump from Roquan Smith in year two is absolutely expected.
Smith should step up next year as a play-caller. He should produce more tackles and impact plays than Trevathan. Look for another step forward from an impact player on the roster, and look for him to push for the top five on the roster by next season.
