Where has the stock of the former Chicago Bears UDFA moved from year one to two?

After his first run in training camp, Ryan Nall walked away as the fan-favorite that nobody thought would clear waivers. As tradition has it, that player always clears waivers and winds up back on the team’s practice squad. The case was no different for the wrecking Nall, who has full back and running back abilities but is a bit limited in big playability.

Still, Nall stuck around. He is back for another training camp with the Chicago Bears. Fortunately for him, he also has a slightly easier path to the lineup.

No, not necessarily as a running back. However, Michael Burton was on the roster as a full back last year, and the tight end group is thinner than usual. The Bears moved Bradley Sowell to tight end to fill depth.

Could Nall bump up the roster due to full back, running back and tight end versatility? He has special teams ability as well and we know Matt Nagy loves the versatility.

This gives Nall a chance. However, David Montgomery and Mike Davis join Tarik Cohen as locks ahead of him. From there, the team also added Kerrith Whyte and Cordarelle Patterson into the mix.

Whyte and Patterson are not blockers but bring similar versatility. They also come much more likely to make the roster. The Bears may be going speed overpower and that could live Nall back on the outside.

Next. Ted Larsen stock watch. dark

He will have to prove special teams ability and prove that he is a capable blocker if he wants to make the roster.
