2. Who is emerging as Trubiskys safety blanket
Every quarterback has that go-to player. Tom Brady has had Wes Welker, Danny Amendola, and Julian Edelman. Peyton Manning went from Marvin Harrison to Reggie Wayne. Matt Nagy mentioned clearly that this offense will be a spread it out, feed everyone offense.
However, when it is a big play, and they need to move the chains, or when the play breaks down, and the quarterback is scrambling for his life, there is always a player who pops into your mind first.
There will always be a player that will be a quarterbacks top option in crunch time. When the Bears were trailing the Eagles in the playoffs, Mitch Trubisky may have found that player in Allen Robinson.
Robinson finished the game with 10 catches for 143 yards. The two got a full season together and now can build off of the last second playoff magic.
There is also Anthony Miller, who played through a separated shoulder and still was Trubisky’s go-to red-zone target.
Could Trey Burton be his go-to guy? He has a knack for finding openings over the middle of the field and was injured for the playoff game. Could he get healthy and step up as his top read?
Who Trubisky is gelling with will tell who gets the call in crunch time, which is important as the games get more important.
