What were five initial takeaways from the Chicago Bears initial depth chart?

The Chicago Bears released their first depth chart of the season this week. The first depth chart is pretty meaningless and will change immediately following the first game. Still, there is something to be taken away from what the coaches say as they put some level of thought into this.

There are things that can be starting points or show how high some players have to climb. With that in mind, what are five things that stood out at first glance of the first depth chart of 2019?

5. Position Changes

The team did not make many roster changes, but they did end up making a few position changes. Some were talked about throughout the offseason, and others were rumored. We got clarity now.

James Daniels is officially the teams starting center, Cody Whitehair is officially back at guard. This should be an upgrade for both and was an announcement that was expected. Taquan Mizzell was also listed at wide receiver, coming in as the number five option.

Cordarelle Patterson is also a receiver, although he has taken carries in training camp. Bradley Sowell is officially a tight end, which was expected, and a less talked about move shows Sherrick McManis playing safety. It was speculated that he was moving around in the back end, but he officially is not listed with the cornerbacks.
