Chicago Bears make a call for a kicker
The Chicago Bears are doing their due diligence to find a kicker this offseason
The momentum of every preseason play took a huge hit when Eddy Pineiro went wide left on a 48-yard attempt. Elliott Fry nailed his kicks, but the Chicago Bears kicker issue officially dragged on to the preseason with the miss.
We all know the story by now from Robbie Gould to Cody Parker and everything in between. The Chicago Bears have a hole at kicker, and while they have exhausted all options, it seems they still do not have an answer.
The Ravens backup kicker Kaare Vedvik got a lot of praise for his preseason debut. Obviously, Vedvik is behind Justin Tucker, the leagues best kicker in Baltimore. So, he is likely to be moved before the season starts,
According to Adam Schefter, the Bears are not alone in their interest in Vedvik.
Okay, Schefter did not say word-for-word the Bears were one of the teams calling. However, we can all do the math here. I mean how specific do we need him to get?
At least four teams have called and at least two of them are from the NFC North. If the Packers and Vikings are calling and Chicago is not, they have a real problem. Considering the effort Chicago has made, Schefter did not need to get more specific. The Bears are calling.
Will they add Vedvik? No one knows. With four teams offering and potentially more to come, the price may start to get high. How high is too high for a kicker the team has been searching for? We do not know.
One thing we do know is that Chicago has been on the phone with Baltimore about a kicker.
