These five players may have gained the most in preseason week one. Now, what can they gain in preseason week two?

The Chicago Bears first preseason game is not about the starters or seeing what will come from the 2019 season. Rather, it is a chance to scout the back end of the roster. Lower players are able to set a foundation of what to expect and trajectory of growth for the following weeks.

So, in the next week, some more starters will get mixed in. However, the growth of these players will need to be monitored. Did they get more playing time? With better talent? Did they struggle with the increased workload? Was their week one performance a mirage, that the coaches did not trust?

These are things we can learn about the following five players.

1. Kevin Pierre-Louis

Pierre-Louis may have the most to gain over the next couple of weeks. An unknown coming in, Pierre-Louis has years of NFL experience, and spent time in Kansas City with Matt Nagy. He brings tremendous special teams value and could make the roster at linebacker over Joel Iyiegbuniwe and Nick Kwiatkoski.

Pierre-Louis was third in line last week with Danny Trevathan sidelined. He played next to Kwiatkoski and was the faster, more active player. Kwiatkoski has great special teams value, but so does Pierre-Louis.

Trevathan does not need to play again. Who starts beside Smith? Even then Smith will hardly play and Pierre-Louis willl once again get snaps next to Kwiatkoski to prove he is faster. More importantly, watch these two on special teams to see who may have the edge for the number three linebacker job.
