4. Dax Raymond
Coming out of the 2019 NFL draft, the Bears had a strong haul of UDFA players. Emanuel Hall, Dax Raymond, and Alex Bars were all considered draftable by the masses, and the Bears were able to add all three as UDFAs. Fast forward to summer and Hall has been cut and Raymond is not far ahead of him.
Raymond was intriguing because he played a similar role to Trey Burton in college. However, his blocking and strength were questioned coming out. In camp, he has been the sixth tight end behind the usual suspects, but also Ian Bunting.
When asked about Bunting, Nagy mentioned that he played similar to Adam Shaheen, and while Ben Braunecker can backup Burton, Braunecker and Raymond cannot backup Shaheen.
So, Bunting saw the field over Raymond and had a much better day. Raymond finished with three yards. Raymond is likely to catch onto the practice squad, but he needs one heck of a game to get attention for the 53-man roster. All eyes are on Alex Bars and now Bunting to be the top UDFA to make the roster.
