Who should make the Chicago Bears 53-man roster?

We have two weeks to go and the week 3 game will tell us a lot about where the Chicago Bears roster stands. However, the back end of the roster certainly saw some shifts in week 2. Who are the Bears that are making the roster, who is on the back end, and who can make up ground in the next couple of weeks?

Quarterbacks (2): Mitch Trubisky, Chase Daniel

This one is set in stone. Matt Nagy trusts Daniel.

Running back (4): Tarik Cohen, David Montgomery, Mike Davis, Ryan Nall

The top three are locks, the questions come down to Kerrith Whyte or Ryan Nall. While Whyte looks electric as a return man, the team has Cordarrelle Patterson and Tarik Cohen. He can wait on the practice squad while Nall provides a versatile nature as a blocker, runner, catcher, and special teams asset.

Wide Receiver (7): Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Cordarelle Patterson, Javon Wims, Riley Ridley, Marvin Hall

The top six are locks. Hall may surprise some, but his speed is undeniable. He also cannot be stashed on the practice squad like Whyte.

Tight end (5): Trey Burton, Adam Shaheen, Ben Braunecker, Bradley Sowell, Ian Bunting

Braunecker brings special teams value while Sowell is the needed blocker. Bunting showed well as a pass-catcher in week 1, and a special teamer in week 2.

Offensive Line (8): Charles Leno, Cody Whitehair, James Daniels, Kyle Long, Bobby Massie, Ted Larsen, Alex Bars, Rashaad Coward

Bars is slowly moving towards a lock as his health keeps up. Coward continues to slide behind him although there is no other competition to push him off the roster.

Defensive Line (5): Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, Roy Robertson-Harris, Jon Bullard

To keep the extra offensive skill players, Nick Williams gets cut. The team does not need to keep him inactive all season.

Edge (4): Khalil Mack, Leonard Floyd, Isaiah Irving, Aaron Lynch

Some are clamoring for James Vaughters after his preseason performance. However, his play speaks more of Kylie Fitts struggles than his excellence.

Linebacker (4): Roquan Smith, Danny Trevathan, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Nick Kwiatkoski

Josh Woods saw a step up in competition and did not handle it well. Joel Iyiegbuniwe is not in the good graces of the coaches. Both can hang on the practice squad, but this means Kwiatkoski stays.

Cornerback (6): Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, Buster Skrine, Duke Shelley, Kevin Toliver, Clifton Duck

Clifton Duck has excelled. He can play in the slot and outside, and has special teams ability. Count him on the roster.

Safety (5): Eddy Jackson, Haha Clinton-Dix, Deon Bush, Sherrick McManis, DeAndre Houston-Carson

Houston-Carson is going to be on the bubble.

Special Teams (3): Eddy Pineiro, Pat O’Donnell, Patrick Scales

Last week we went to Fry, this week Piniero. The real kicker likely is not on the roster.
