Possible Kickers Eddy Pineiro May Have to Look Out For
And then there was one. On Sunday, the Chicago Bears announced the release of kicker Elliot Fry. With two preseason games left before the start of the 2019 NFL regular season, the Bears, at least for the time being, will put their trust in Eddy Pineiro.
Fry departed the Windy City connecting on one of two field goal attempts during the preseason, and making both extra-point attempts. Obviously, that wasn’t enough for him to stick around. As for Pineiro, he’s made three out of four field goal attempts in the first two games of the preseason.
Looking at both of their performances throughout training camp and the preseason, the race between both kickers seemed to be neck-and-neck. One thing that might have given Pineiro a slight advantage over Fry was his stronger leg for kickoffs.

Even though Pineiro is now the last man standing, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he can stop looking over his shoulder. Bears head coach Matt Nagy said that bringing in another kicker is still a possibility, and that they will do anything to make the team better.
Currently, there are nine free-agent kickers floating around out there. In addition, there are teams who are in the middle of their own kicking battle. Chicago already missed out on Kaare Vedvik, who was traded from the Baltimore Ravens to the Minnesota Vikings. However, there are still some quality kickers to choose from in the event that the Bears decide to cut ties with Pineiro.
Here are a few possibilities.
