What should the Chicago Bears 53-man roster look like?

The Chicago Bears have played three preseason games. By the third game, it was clear who about 28 starters were with jobs locked. Still, this means half of the roster played Friday night to secure a roster spot.

We have been updating our thoughts on the roster construction every week. After the third game, what should the Chicago Bears 53-man roster look like.

Quarterback (2): Mitch Trubisky, Chase Daniel

This position is cut and dry with Tyler Bray clearly behind Daniel.

Running back (4): Tarik Cohen, David Montgomery, Mike Davis, Ryan Nall

The big question is Nall vs. Kerrith Whyte. Nall had a big run, and caught more passes than Whyte but also missed a block which may be more important. Still,  due to depth at return man, and the versatility of Nall, he gets the edge.

Wide Receiver (6): Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Taylor Gabriel, Cordarelle Patterson, Javon Wims, Riley Ridley

The only question is whether Marvin Hall will make it seven on the roster. He should be practice squad eligible, though.

Tight end (5): Trey Burton, Adam Shaheen, Bradley Sowell, Ben Braunecker, Ian Bunting

Bunting has made a play every week in preseason. He has to work on blocking, but is in a good spot to make the roster.

Offensive line (8): Charles Leno, James Daniels, Cody Whitehair, Kyle Long, Bobby Massie, Alex Bars, Ted Larsen, Rashaad Coward

With Coward banged up the team may look outside the roster for a tackle. Alex Bars is a sure lock by now after playing tackle and guard last week.

Defensive Line (6): Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, Roy Robertson-Harris, Jonathan Bullard, Nick Williams

Williams played well in preseason week 3 to ensure a spot, but Abdullah Anderson is certainly a practice squad player. The rest is locked in.

Outside linebacker (5): Leonard Floyd, Khalil Mack, Aaron Lynch, Isaiah Irving, Kylie Fitts

James Vaughters has played well.  It may be well enough for practice squad,  but he is still outside looking in on the roster.

Inside Linebacker (4): Roquan Smith, Danny Trevathan, Nick Kwiatkowski, Kevin Pierre-Louis

Pierre-Louis and Kwiatkowski separated themselves from Joel Iyiegbuniwe and Josh Woods last week. Both have practice squad aspirations.

Cornerback (5): Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, Buster Skrine, Kevin Toliver, Duke Shelley

Clifton Duck, Michael Joseph, and John Franklin will fight for a practice squad spot or two.

Safety (5): Haha Clinton-Dix, Eddie Jackson, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson, Sherrick McManis

The safeties are cut and dry thanks to the special teams ability of McManis and DHC

Specialists (3): Eddy Piniero, Patrick Scales, Pat O’Donnell

Pineiro’s 58-yard boot ensured his job for week one.
