The Chicago Bears finalized their 53-man roster. What were the biggest surprises?
The Chicago Bears finally announced all of their roster decisions for the start of the 2019 season. Keep in mind that the team will scour the waiver wire to look for gems to improve the back end of the roster.
However, for now, this is what the Bears are working with. What does the roster look like and who are the surprise keeps and cuts?
Quarterback (2): Mitch Trubisky, Chase Daniel
Some fans wanted Tyler Bray, but he has not done nearly enough to push Daniel-who has not done much himself either.
Running back (4): Tarik Cohen, David Montgomery, Mike Davis, Kerrith Whyte
The speed and draft status of Whyte overcome special teams prowess and diversity of Nall. Admittedly, we had Nall getting on the roster.
Wide receiver (6): Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Cordarelle Patterson, Riley Ridley, Javon Wims
This six was rather expected. Emanuel Hall and Marvin Hall were thoughts this preseason, but neither panned out.
Tight end (4): Adam Shaheen, Trey Burton, Ben Braunecker, Bradley Sowell
Ian Bunting will look for practice squad work after a solid preseason. Dax Raymond heads to the IR.
Offensive line (8): Charles Leno, James Daniels, Cody Whitehair, Kyle Long, Bobby Massie, Ted Larsen, Rashaad Coward, Cornelius Lucas
This is where the Bears messed up. Alex Bars deserved to be a lock after a great preseason, and has arguably out performed Larsen, Coward, and Lucas. We will see, but this feels like a risk.
Defensive line (6): Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, Abdullah Anderson, Roy Robertson-Harris, Nick Williams
We knew that Anderson was closer to the roster than some thought. However, we thought he was challenging Williams and not the disappointing Bullard.

Outside linebacker (4): Khalil Mack, Leonard Floyd, Aaron Lynch, Isaiah Irving
Only four make it with James Vaughters and Kylie Fitts hoping to stick to the practice squad.
Inside linebacker (6): Roquan Smith, Danny Trevathan, Nick Kwiatoski, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Josh Woods, Joel Iyiegbuniwe
Despite speculation, Iggy does make it. However, the issue is that every single player he was competing with made it as well.
Cornerback (5): Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, Buster Skrine, Kevin Toliver, Duke Shelley
Safety (5); Haha Clinton-Dix, Eddie Jackson, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson, Sherrick McManis
No surprises in the secondary. Michael Joseph, John Franklin and Clifton Duck all being let go with intentions of the practice squad.
