The Chicago Bears began cutting players, including Marvin Hall, who was released early

As the Chicago Bears begin to dwindle the roster down from the top 90 players to 53, the names will start coming in rapidly over the next 12-15 hours. The team started to notify players as early as Friday evening so that they could get on their way of finding work with another team.

One of those players was Marvin Hall. Hall was talked up in the preseason as a player who could make the roster. His ability to replace Taylor Gabriel in Atlanta came up often when discussing his name, and it was possible that he could stick around for a year and do it again.

Hall has practice squad eligibility, so he could find his way back to Chicago. It probably helps their cause that they were upfront with him and let him know early into the process so that he could try to find a job elsewhere.

Hall will get to explore his options, and then decide if a year in Chicago on the practice squad is a better option.

Some other players starter to get the call as well including Tanner Gentry, who was once a beloved UDFA target from Wyoming. That is the offical end of the road for Gentry in Chicago, as he has pushed well down the roster by this point.

Matt Betts and Clifton Duck join as UDFA rookies to get released. Duck may wind up back on the practice squad.

Jalen Dalton has been another reported cut.
