Chicago Bears: Predicting games 5-8
By Adam Childs
Week 5 vs Oakland Raiders
Yes, that is a picture of Khalil Mack in a Raiders uniform and when this game was announced it looked like it would be the sole reason this game would be interesting. Well then the Raiders traded for Antonio Brown and things went from kind of interesting to very interesting.
We all know the story of Mack being traded to the Bears for next to nothing because Jon Gruden wanted to do things his way. Well, Mack may not publically say it, but you know he is ready for this game. He has extra motivation to prove to Gruden and the Raiders that they made a huge mistake. He will be looking to cause all kinds of problems for Derek Carr and company.
The big concern for the Bears will be how well Carr and Brown are playing together come week five or if Brown has even found a helmet to use. Brown’s saga with his helmet has been the story of the Raiders offseason, well that and his frostbitten feet. But even with all that Brown is extremely talented and can change a game by himself. The Bears know that and will look to shut him down and while the Raiders have made some upgrades they aren’t ready just yet. They are looking more towards next year and being in Vegas and aren’t ready to compete.
This has all the makings of a trap game for the Bears. They could be 4-0 heading into the game and looking ahead to their bye and then the rough schedule after it. Chicago has to stay focused and not let this game get away because they don’t get any easier as the season progresses.
Here is saying they start slow but figure it out as the Raiders just don’t have enough offense yet to get past the Bears defense. The Bears head into their bye week undefeated.
