Week 8 vs Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have been one of the best teams in the NFL the last two years and barely anybody has talked about them. After starting 0-5 in 2017-18 the Chargers have played great. Even with the lousy start they almost made the playoffs two years ago and made it in as a wild card last year.

Phillip Rivers leads the way for the Chargers and he has always played well but he found his second life last year and played at an MVP level. He is prone to throw interceptions which could definitely favor the Bears as they led the league in that category last year. The Bears need to force the Chargers into turnovers if they want to win this game.

The key to the game, though, is if Melvin Gordon is playing or not. He is a great running back but as of this writing is still holding out. There is some thought that he will suit and play when the season starts but it is still uncertain. He had been seeking a trade because the Chargers wouldn’t pay him more, but both have been at a stalemate.

If Gordon plays this offense goes from pretty good to one of the best in the NFL. Obviously for the Bears sake they rather Gordon not be in the lineup, but it will be a tough game either way.

By this game, the offense better be able to make plays or it will be a long year for the Bears no matter how well their defense is playing.  Here is to saying head coach Matt Nagy and company have found a way to maximum their playmakers on offense and they are scoring enough points to win this game.

This is a game the Bears need to win and show they belong with the elite. Especially if they lose to the Saints as we have predicted.

If the Bears had to travel out to LA for this game I think the edge would be with the Chargers, but getting this game at home even after a predicted loss should help the Bears. The crowd is rowdy and the Bears force Rivers into a few turnovers to help win this game. The offense also breaks out and wins this won easier than expected.

Prediction – Bears 34, Chargers 21
