5 questions Chicago Bears must answer
1. Can Mitch Trubisky gain confidence?
We can blame Matt Nagy. We can blame Anthony Miller. Trey Burton was out and David Montgomery saw his rookie debut. Even Kyle Long and the offensive line did not live up to their standards.
Still, this all comes down to one player. Mitch Trubisky. We all saw it, he did not play with confidence.
Trubisky is talented, that cannot be denied. He is athletic with a live arm and a hard work ethic. However, at times, he loses confidence in himself. He starts thinking and stops playing. He becomes a mechanical football player, which is not what you want to be.
The question is how do you instill confidence? The idea was that a fourth-quarter drive followed by year two in a new system would bring a mastery of the playbook and thus confidence. However, we did not see that yet.
Can he gain confidence? Is he reliant on the other things being perfect? Are the four questions before more important? We will learn about this one very soon as Trubisky takes on his old coordinator Vic Fangio.
