Three keys for the Chicago Bears to beat the Denver Broncos
By Adam Childs
3. Pressure Flacco
While the offense needs to protect Trubisky, the defense must get pressure on Joe Flacco. The Raiders sacked him three times and hit him another five times on Monday night and it kept him from getting comfortable back there as he would go just 21-31 for 268 yards in a very average game.
The Bears were able to sack Aaron Rodgers five times in their game and must do the same to Flacco. The Broncos don’t have the same weapons that the Packers do, so if they can get to Flacco it will force the others to beat them and I don’t think they can.
Flacco did not turn the ball over but he has in the past and the Bears with their attacking defense can hopefully force him into a few on Sunday. The Bears defense may feel like they have to carry the load to win the game and that may be true. But if they can help out and give the offense short fields it will just make things easier for the offense.
Pressuring Flacco and either getting sacks or turnovers could help the Bears win the field position battle and get the team in a better position to score. The Broncos did not look good on offense on Monday night and the Bears need to take advantage.
The Bears desperately need to avoid going 0-2 to start the season and getting the offense going would be a good start. If they can get the rushing game going more, protect Trubisky and pressure Flacco they should be able to get away from Denver with a road win and can head to Washington looking for two in a row. I predicted before the season started a 27-10 win. While I think they still win easily it is tough to think the Bears will score 27 this week. Expect the Bears to be better on offense and take some of the pressure off the defense.
