2019 Chicago Bears Week 2 Report Card vs. Denver Broncos
Special Teams
By far, kicker Eddy Pineiro was the player of the game. The former Florida Gator scored the majority of the Bears’ 16 points by connecting on an extra point, and field goals of 40, 52, and 53 yards. The 53-yarder was converted as time expired, giving Chicago their first win of the season.
Punter Pat O’Donnell landed just one of his five punts inside the 20-yard line, but did average 57.4 yards per punt in the thin air of Denver. The one blemish made by the special teams unit was the offside penalty committed by Buster Skrine. After Sanders’ touchdown late in the fourth quarter, the Broncos was flagged for delay of game while going for a two-point conversion. As a result, Denver elected to go for the extra point to tie the game. The extra point was missed, but Skrine jumped offside, therefore giving the Broncos the ball on the one-yard line. They scored on the two-point conversion and took a 14-13 lead.
