5 signs of growth in Chicago Bears offense
Spread it around
With Cohen and Patterson seeing lesser roles, but still seeing the field, the offense was shuffling a lot of pieces. However, that is exactly what they want to see. When this offense is at its peak, it can kill you in every which way with its variety of skill players.
It did not show on the scoreboard, but they took a step towards being that offense on Sunday. Allen Robinson led the way with seven targets, and he is the alpha of the offense. However, from there we saw an even distribution.
Tarik Cohen was second in targets with five. Then, Ben Braunecker, Adam Shaheen, David Montgomery, and Trey Burton all saw three targets. Taylor Gabriel saw two and Anthony Miller caught his only target.
Seven players saw at least one target, and six of those players all saw within two targets of their peers. Adding in that six players recorded a rushing attempt can speak to just how much this offense wants to spread the football out.
This may not be fun for fantasy football, and at times they can get out whack. However, as they gel together, the idea is that by the end of the season, this is an offense that can pick you apart in any possible way.
