Three keys for the Chicago Bears to beat the Washington Redskins
By Adam Childs
3. Use Tarik Cohen
Cohen, in case you have forgotten, is an explosive player that was huge in the Bears offense last year. You may have forgotten because he has been nowhere near that guy this year. Maybe teams are game-planning better for him, or maybe Nagy hasn’t been creative enough to get him involved.
David Montgomery looks to be the main back this year and that is great, but Cohen has shown to much promise to completely take him out of the flow of the offense. The Bears need to get him involved.
He has the potential to break big plays and the Bears could definitely use some of those right now. But he can’t do anything if he doesn’t the ball in his hands. We know Cohen isn’t built to be in the between the tackles type of runner, but only having four rushes in the first two games just seems wrong.
Cohen may prove to be just a flash in the pan last year, but he seems like he has too much talent for that to be the case. Nagy needs to get that creativity back he had last year and get him involved more. Try for the big plays with him and maybe it will produce more points.
Chicago should try and get him at least ten touches against Washington and see if he can make a play. He might be the sparkplug the Bears need to get the offense out of this funk.
It seems too early to say that this is a must-win for the Bears, but it is close as it gets this early in the season. The Redskins have not looked good early and it looks like another team the Bears defense should be able to shut down. If they can win these three keys to the game they will come out with a win. Trubiksy will finally throw his first touchdown pass of the year and the Bears break the 20 point mark. The Bears escape with a win and head home for a big divisional game with the Vikings.
