5 bold predictions for Chicago Bears week 3
3. Bears defense bends a little
The Bears sure are scoring a lot in these bold predictions. With that in mind, it may surprise some to see the defense take a needed night off. The defense has carried this team through two weeks. They have allowed 24 points in two weeks. Now, they are on the road in a prime time spot.
Can they live up to it? Sure, there is no doubting that they will make plays. However, whether it be game flow from the offense scoring, or the offense bailing them out for once, it could be a night off for the defense.
To start, the Redskins offense is not great on paper, but Jay Gruden is a head coach for a reason. He can draw up plays, as noted in 20 first-half points in Philadelphia, and 21 points against Dallas as well.
The offense finds sparks of well designed and executed plays to move the football. The Bears have been taking shots and succeeding on defense. However, carrying an offense as they did in altitude saw them struggle towards the end of that game. Maybe this game will play like the Redskins first game this year where they capitalize on a shot play early before the defense cracks down on them. Maybe this is like Miami or New York last year. Either way, the scoring may be higher on both sides.
