Bill Hewitt

Although Bill Hewitt only played five seasons for the Bears in the 1930s, he had quite the impact.

In four out of the five seasons Hewitt played for the Bears, he was named a first-team All-Pro. And if you can believe this, he actually led the NFL in receiving touchdowns. Imagine a Chicago Bears’ player leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns! That rarely happens.

Hewitt played for the Bears from 1932 to 1936. He was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1937 and played four seasons there.

In September of 1946, Hewitt was killed in a car accident.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.
