Eddy Pineiro ready for MNF despite injury
The Chicago Bears will still be relying on their kicker Eddy Pineiro despite an injury earlier in the week
Earlier in the week the Chicago Bears were given a scare. After seemingly resolving the kicker issue with a game winning kick by Eddy Pinerio against the Broncos, their future kicker was questionable for the next week with a knee injury.
Matt Nagy was optimistic, but one thing we have noted is that Nagy is overly optimistic on the injury front. For good reason, but this is the same Nagy who told us that he had optimism for Trey Burton to start in Week 1.
Nagy knows what he is doing. Still, he has to be forthright in some regard with injuries, which made the Pinerio discussion newsworthy. Did Pinerio win the job only to lose his health? What will the Bears do at kicker.
As it turns out Pinerio made the trip to Washington, showing the Beard had faith in him. By this point we even knew that Burton was out.
On top of that, Pineiro was spotted on the field over three hours before the game getting ready.
This is a big game for Pineiro. After winning the job, and taking the locker room, and fan base by storm with a game winning kick, momentum is on his side for the first time. He can capitalize with a strong game on Monday Night Football in a win against Washington.
Playing through an injury is never easy, but Pinerio will not get a pass. If he can make his kicks, he will show great determination and will pass yet another test as a future kicker.
