CHICAGO, IL – AUGUST 11: Bobby Massie
  1. No Massie, no problem

Yes, the Washington Redskins defense gets no pressure. Yes, their cornerbacks were banged up. Still, Chicago Bears got nervous when they heard that Bobby Massie was going to be inactive for week 3 with an undisclosed injury. It turns out that Massie will not be out longterm, which is great news for the Bears.

However, in the one emergency situation when they did need to step up without him, they looked excellent. Cornelius Lucas was questioned when he was kept on the 53-man roster. He is a journeyman veteran who struggled in training camp and did not necessarily win a job.

However, with Rashaad Coward and Alex Bars as the other options, Lucas was thrust into duty against Washington. He was relatively untested, but it was a great performance nonetheless.

The Bears had great scheme to roll out Trubisky and put him good situations. They also have Harry Hiestand, a stud offensive line coach who played to the weaknesses of his unit.

With great coaching and a great cast of players around him, we saw Lucas put in a full game with no fans even noticing he was out there. That is always a good sign for the offensive line. As the line shifts, rememberer to trust in Harry Hiestand, who has this group in great hands.
