3. Get Ahead Early

Obviously, this should be a goal in every game, as all teams would like to be winning throughout the game. But on Sunday it could be the difference in the game. The Vikings have shown they don’t trust Cousins much and want to rely on the running game. That makes the game go quicker and fewer possessions for each team. They can control the clock and grind out wins if possible.

But if the Bears can get ahead early they put them in catchup mode and that isn’t what the Vikings are good at right now because of the struggles of Cousins. It also plays into the hands of the aggressive Bears defense. Chicago thrives off of pressuring the other teams and forcing turnovers and when you are ahead in the game it allows for the Bears to do that and other teams take more chances which play right into the Bears hands.

The Bears have also shown that when they start off slow it can be a long game and they struggle throughout. When they score early it seems like whole offense has more confidence knowing they can move the ball and the defense can cause havoc for the other team.

The Packers jumped on the Vikings early and held on and if the Bears can do the same they will be in great shape. Chicago needs to score and control the ball, keep the Vikings from using their running attack to pound the Bears defense. This is a game where the offense can definitely help the defense and it will be key for them to get the win.

The Vikings have looked good at times this year, but it was against the Falcons and Raiders, two teams that haven’t looked great this far. If the Bears can execute these three keys they should be able to beat the Vikings. Playing at home should help also and the Bears come away with a big division win and get to 3-1 on the year before they head to London to take on the Raiders.
