This coming week, fans of the Chicago Bears will have nothing to look forward to simply because their beloved team is on a bye week. This break couldn’t have come at a better time. One reason is to let the team lick their wounds from a disappointing loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 5. Another reason is to give quarterback Mitchell Trubisky time to recover from his injury.

During the first drive of the game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4, Trubisky was hit and fell awkwardly on his non-throwing shoulder. As a result, the three-year veteran was knocked out of the game, and in addition, missed the Week 5 matchup against the Raiders in London.

With Chicago in the midst of their bye week, the team made a roster move. Third-string quarterback Tyler Bray was release in order to make room for tight end Bradley Sowell to be re-signed.

With that being said, it brings up an interesting question: Is Trubisky healthy enough to play in Week 7?

The Bears normally dress two quarterbacks on game day—and seeing that they released Bray, one can assume that Trubisky will be in uniform when the Bears host the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.

Even if the North Carolina product is given the green light, there still might be a chance that Chase Daniel will start. But then again, the coaches may feel that Trubisky is healthy enough to be inserted back into the starting lineup.

If Trubisky wasn’t on track to return to the field, chances are that the organization wouldn’t have made the move to release Bray. Let’s face it, it would be better to have Bray and Daniel as the two active quarterbacks while Trubisky is injured than to have Daniel and the five-foot-six Tarik Cohen as you emergency quarterback next in line.

Of course, we will have to wait and hear about Trubisky’s progress later on next week to get a better indication of how healthy he is going into Week 7. Let’s just hope that if he is given the okay to play, that he isn’t being rushed back before he’s physically ready.
