Chicago Bears: Three keys to beat the New Orleans Saints
By Adam Childs
Take some chances on offense
The Bears offense has been so stagnant lately. They run short routes, they run the ball up the middle and use little misdirection. All the things we thought they might get away from this year, but it is all right here yet again.
This has led to very little scoring and the Bears defense having to bail out the offense time and time again.
Nagy needs to take more chances on offense. Give your receivers a chance to make plays. They didn’t sign Allen Robinson to just get a few catches a game. He is very good at going up and getting the ball, give him a chance to do that.
Air the ball out a little bit and try and get chunk plays. That is something the Chicago Bears have done so little this year. They end up in third and longs too many times and it makes it tough to sustain a drive that way.
They need to use their speed to their advantage. The Saints have been playing very good defense so if they can just stack the box and not worry about anything deep they are going to very tough to score against.
I know that you don’t want to turn the ball over but if you don’t take chances you don’t score much either. Take some shots deep and loosen up the defensive and that could open up the running game. Oh, and the offensive line playing better also.
You don’t have to go deep all the time, but enough to let your receivers make plays and balance the defense out. If they will open it up a little bit they might be surprised what happens. I know the fans will be surprised they tried.
If they can do that and then use their defense to pressure Bridgewater the Bears should have a good chance to win the game. Hopefully, the bye week helped the Bears out and they come out firing at home against the Saints on Sunday.
