The question as to whether the Chicago Bears need another quarterback has come up a lot as we approach the trade deadline. There are some good prospects out there but do the Bears need one of the potentially available quarterbacks?

It’s been a bummer that Chicago Bears‘ starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been out with a shoulder injury. It is also not good that in his third year in the league, he isn’t as far along as guys like DeShaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes are.

Has the Trubisky experiment failed? It’s still way too early to tell. You can’t say “Well Mahomes and Watson are winning games, putting up big numbers and playing well but Trubisky isn’t”. It’s a whole different case. Trubisky needs some things before he can become a stellar quarterback.

His offensive line has been less than stellar and the running game has been virtually non-existent. It’s hard to throw with this group and it’s hard to use the running game to take some of the pressure off the quarterback.

The offense has regressed.

That isn’t Trubisky’s fault.

Another thing that the Bears have had a problem with, that may have added to the issues they have had is that they have a tougher schedule. The Bears have faced some stout defenses and have had their trouble against these strong units.

So, the question has come up, do the Bears need to bring in another quarterback. Fans are thinking that guys who could be potential trade targets, like Cam Newton and Nick Foles, would be worth bringing in.

Perhaps they could carry the Bears to the promised land?

I say give Trubisky some time to develop. He’s going to be good he just might need another season. But what he needs is some offensive stability, stability at the coaching position and time. Remember folks, he made the Pro Bowl as an alternate last year. He’s got some talent and a ton of potential.

The Bears just need to bring in better talent around Trubisky and give him another year to see what he can do. The offense is the problem and by fixing that, you should be able to fix Trubisky.

However, if Trubisky cannot get his act together by the end of next season, it’s probably time to cut ties and start over, unfortunately. I know that’s tough to think about but the Bears need to keep moving forward.

The fans are getting tired of the below-standard play. They will only have so much tolerance left before they start getting anxious.

Maybe that time has already come?
