Ha Ha Clinton-Dix – S

I recently wrote an article about how Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is on pace for a career year. The thing is, Clinton-Dix is here on a one-year contract. He is not making much in the grand scheme of things. However, the chances he sticks around in 2020 are not good. The Chicago Bears will have to be creative with their cap room and I just do not see how they keep Clinton-Dix around.

The good news is that Ryan Pace can still get something in return for how well Clinton-Dix has been playing. With his performance of the first six games of the year, Clinton-Dix would probably net a third-round draft pick from a team who is competing but in need of a safety.

What about Matt Nagy’s old team the Kansas City Chiefs? They are a team that could benefit from having a playmaker in their defensive backfield. The team is 5-2 and atop the AFC West, but will they be able to compete with the better teams of the AFC? This is especially true now that they lost Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have a decent amount of 2020 picks too. Giving up a third would probably be worth it for them in the short-term.

This move would be a bold move by Ryan Pace. It would mean that the team is admitting the 2019 season is over, but it gives them another piece for the 2020 season. If they are not planning on retaining Ha Ha Clinton-Dix services in 2020, and again, I do not see how they can afford him. Moving him for a mid-round draft pick is a very smart move and keeps the defensive core intact.
